Amu Hinamori est une enfant très caractérielle, à tel point qu'elle change souvent d'école. Alors qu'elle vient tout juste d'arriver dans l'école primaire Seiyo, plein de rumeurs lui courent déjà après, et elle est déjà considérée comme l'élève de Seiyo cool and spicy ! Le soir même, chez elle, une étrange femme lui parle d'anges gardiens via une émission de télévision... Jugeant qu'il s'agit d'une arnaque pour ceux qui croient à la bonne fortune, Amu l'envoie balader. Seule dans sa chambre, elle demande justement plus de chance et de courage afin de réussir à cerner et à affirmer sa véritable personnalité : elle montre d'elle une fille classe et rebelle aux autres alors qu'elle est en réalité une jeune fille timide et réservée lorsqu'elle est seule.

Le matin suivant trois œufs apparaissent dans son lit. Amu décide de prendre ces mystérieux œufs avec elle. À l'école, elle rencontre un groupe étrange, adulé par les filles et les garçons : les Gardiens, qui semblent être au courant de l'existence des œufs. Cependant, quelqu'un d'autre s'intéresse de près à ces œufs et ses intentions ne sont pas très bienveillantes.
